# EV charger installation cost in Poole — MX2 Electrical

> EV charger installation prices in Poole — what the job involves, what moves the price, and what it costs town by town.

## What MX2 Electrical charges

£300 — published up front and fixed once the property has been seen.

## What the price covers

- Survey of parking, incoming supply, earthing and consumer unit capacity
- Fitting a dedicated circuit with isolation and the correct protective devices
- Mounting an agreed charge point on a wall or garage you control
- Instrument testing and the electrical certificate for the new circuit
- Notification to the distribution network operator
- A walkthrough of the unit once it is live

### Priced separately
- Trenching, excavation or making good of driveways and yards
- Upgrades to the network operator's cutout or service cable
- Consumer unit replacement unless quoted as a separate line
- Freestanding posts, multi bay load management and public rapid chargers

## Plan the right charging setup

A house, office or shop can take a charge point when there is parking on the plot and a supply that can accept a dedicated circuit.
- **Parking on the plot:** A driveway in Broadstone, Canford Heath or Burton is a short wall or garage mount. Town centre offices, Westbourne shops and converted flats in Parkstone or Bournemouth need an allocated bay before a cable route can be agreed.
- **Supply and board capacity:** Homes and workplaces are checked the same way: incoming fuse, spare ways, earthing and whether a continuous charging load will sit on that board. Older town centre premises in Wimborne Minster and Wareham are not assumed to match a suburban house.
- **Home and workplace both in scope:** Staff and visitor points at offices, shops and company premises use the same dedicated circuit, testing and DNO notification as a house. Isolation is planned with you rather than guessed around trading hours.

## How the installation works

The survey locks the parking space, board and cable route. Fitting is then a planned visit with isolation agreed in advance for homes and workplaces.
- **Survey the parking and the board:** The parking space, cable route and consumer unit are checked before hardware is mounted. A workplace visit includes how isolation will sit against the hours the premises actually trades.
- **Isolate, run the circuit, mount the unit:** The board is isolated for the new circuit. Cable is clipped on the agreed route and the charge point is fixed on the wall or garage that serves the parking space.
- **Test, notify and hand over:** The circuit is tested, the certificate is issued and the distribution network operator is notified. The unit is demonstrated before the visit closes.

## What you receive

The finished job is a dedicated charging circuit on a home or workplace supply, with records that match the work done.
- **Working chargepoint:** A commissioned wall unit at the parking space you control, ready to charge the vehicle that uses that bay.
- **Tested dedicated circuit:** A new circuit with its own protection, sized for the charger and kept off the rest of the board's everyday load.
- **Installation records:** The electrical certificate for the new circuit and the network notification record for the charge point.
- **Controls explained:** A short demonstration of status lights, the tethered lead or socket, and any app controls the fitted unit actually has.

## EV charger installation price questions

### How much does EV charger installation cost in Poole?

MX2 Electrical charges £300 — the rate we quote from, confirmed on survey, not a lead-generation estimate.

### How much to install EV charger at home UK?

Our rate for this work is £300. The price moves with access, the age and condition of the existing installation, and how much making good the job leaves behind — all of which we confirm before work starts.

### Do you fit chargers at offices and shops as well as houses?

Yes. Staff and visitor points at offices, shops and company premises are in scope. I survey parking, the board and isolation, then quote that job. It is not priced as a short domestic wall mount unless that is genuinely what the site is.

### Can my existing consumer unit support an EV charger?

I check spare ways, protection and the incoming supply on survey. If the board cannot take a dedicated circuit I will set out a secondary enclosure or a consumer unit upgrade as a separate price, for a house or a workplace.

### What if I only have on street parking?

A cable across a public footway cannot be signed off. A driveway, hardstanding, yard or an allocated bay on the premises is what makes a charge point possible.

### Is the published price for a workplace install too?

The published floor is a short domestic wall mount with a direct run from a compatible consumer unit. Workplace points, longer runs, containment and board work are quoted from survey.

### Why do prices differ between towns round here?

Local housing stock is the main reason. Victorian and Edwardian houses and conversions Older or harder-to-access properties take longer, and that time is what a quote is mostly made of.
