We serve Parkstone from our base in Poole.
What happens on the day
Every motor visit follows a clear procedure to identify faults, complete the work safely and verify the entire circuit before leaving.
- Safe isolation and nameplate assessmentWe arrive on location, identify the dedicated supply feed and lock off the isolator. We examine the motor nameplate ratings, assess the starter gear, inspect the coupling to the driven machine and confirm the installation matches the load requirements.
- Motor replacement or mechanical servicingDepending on the fault, we disconnect and unbolt the damaged motor or open the terminal housing on site. We install and align replacement motors to the driven shaft, or repair bearings, terminals and internal wiring connections where practical.
- Rotational testing and certificationOnce reassembled, we energise the circuit to observe rotational direction, measure running current under load and check operating temperature. We secure all enclosure covers and complete testing records or certification where notifiable work took place.

What details do you need before replacing a motor?
It helps to know the voltage, power rating in kilowatts or horsepower, full load current and rotational speed, which are usually stamped on the motor nameplate. A description of the driven machine, such as a fan, pump or compressor, also assists our planning.
Do you work on both single phase and three phase motors?
Yes. We work on single phase units found in domestic heating pumps, shower boosters, garage doors and light commercial extractors, as well as three phase motors powering workshop saws, conveyors, plant room machinery and commercial air systems.
Can you carry out complete motor rewinds on site?
Simple electrical repairs, bearing changes, capacitor replacements and terminal reconnections can be done on site. A motor requiring a complete internal stator rewind is removed, sent to a specialist rewind facility, and returned to be remounted and tested.
Why does my motor trip the breaker immediately when switched on?
Immediate tripping usually indicates a dead short circuit, insulation breakdown within the windings, a seized mechanical bearing or a failed start capacitor on single phase motors. We isolate the unit and test winding resistance to locate the exact defect.
Will I receive an electrical certificate for motor work?
When a new motor circuit is installed or substantial modifications are made to a distribution board, we issue formal electrical certification under our NAPIT registration. Like for like swaps on an existing circuit are verified and tested, with test results recorded.
