What happens on the day
Every installation follows a clear process to establish line of sight, secure all hardware safely, and connect the electrical equipment to your existing installation.
- Initial line-of-sight checkWe inspect the building exterior and surrounding surroundings using satellite alignment tools to locate an unobstructed position with a completely open view of the sky.
- Bracket mounting and exterior cable routingWe anchor the dish mount securely to exterior brickwork or roof structures, fit the dish, and feed the proprietary cable into the property using sealed entry points that prevent moisture ingress.
- Electrical supply and fused spur installationWe wire a dedicated socket or fused spur connected to the consumer unit, protecting the hardware and ensuring the indoor router receives continuous, stable power.
- System activation and electrical certificationWe power the router, confirm the dish links with the satellite constellation, verify internet connectivity, and provide the electrical installation certificate for all new wiring installed.

Do you supply the Starlink dish and router?
No. You must order the Starlink kit directly from Starlink. Once the hardware arrives at your property, MX2 Electrical will attend to mount the dish, run the cables and install the necessary power feeds.
Can Starlink be fitted to commercial premises in Westbourne?
Yes. We install Starlink satellite systems on commercial properties, retail premises, and offices throughout Westbourne centre and surrounding districts, routing cabling into comms cupboards or plant rooms.
What electrical work is required for a Starlink system?
The Starlink router requires an uninterrupted power source. We install a fused connection unit or a dedicated socket near your preferred router location, taking power safely from your existing consumer unit.
Do I need planning permission for a satellite dish?
Standard residential installations generally do not require planning permission. However, properties in conservation areas, flats, or listed buildings may be subject to specific local planning rules that you should confirm before installation.
What happens if trees block the satellite line of sight?
Starlink requires an unobstructed view of the northern sky. During the initial visit, we assess the site to find an elevated position on a chimney, roof peak or outbuilding that clears surrounding foliage.
