What happens on the day

Every installation visit is carried out step by step, starting with line of sight checks and finishing with verified satellite connection and completed electrical certification.

  • Surveying line of sightWe begin by assessing roof pitches, walls and chimneys to find a clear, unshaded view of the sky. Finding a spot without tree foliage or tall buildings in the path ensures your dish maintains steady satellite tracking throughout the day.
  • Mounting and exterior cablingOnce the best position is found, we secure the dish mounting bracket to the structure. We neatly guide the dish cable down the building exterior, clipping it along mortar lines and sealing all entry points against water ingress.
  • Electrical connection and indoor setupWe terminate cabling inside the building and install an unswitched fused connection unit or dedicated circuit from your consumer unit. The indoor power unit and router are plugged in, tested for stability, and checked for proper satellite locking.

Frequently asked questions about Starlink installation

Still have a question?

Do you provide the Starlink dish and router?

No. You must order the Starlink kit directly from the manufacturer before our visit. Once the equipment arrives at your property, we supply the mounting brackets, exterior fixings, cable clips, and electrical hardware required to install and power the system.

Can Starlink be fitted to a commercial building in Bournemouth?

Yes. We fit dishes on commercial roofs, offices, retail units, and workshops across Bournemouth. Commercial work includes running cables into comms racks or plant rooms and installing dedicated electrical points from commercial distribution boards.

Do I need planning permission to install a Starlink dish?

Most residential properties do not need planning permission under permitted development rules. However, properties that are listed or situated in conservation areas may have special conditions. We recommend checking your local planning rules before booking a visit.

How is power connected to the Starlink equipment?

We run a dedicated supply or wire an unswitched fused spur from your existing electrical installation. All new wiring is completed to national electrical safety standards and certificated through our NAPIT registration.

What happens if there are tall trees or obstructions near my property?

Starlink needs a clear view of orbiting satellites. During our visit, we evaluate roof ridges, gable ends, and chimney stacks to identify the clearest elevation point, helping avoid obstructions such as tall trees or neighbouring structures.
