What happens on the day

Every visit is carried out with care, ensuring the power is isolated properly and the new shower is fully commissioned before we pack away.

  • Circuit check and safe isolationWe isolate the shower circuit at the consumer unit and test for dead at the unit switch. We confirm that the cable cross-section matches the kilowatt rating of the shower and examine the local isolator.
  • Mounting and connecting the unitThe old shower unit is removed from the wall. We align the water entry and cable connections, mount the new chassis, connect plumbing and electrical terminations, and secure the shower riser rail and handset.
  • Electrical testing and commissioningPower is restored to conduct live electrical tests, verifying earth continuity and RCD operation. We flush the unit, balance the temperature controls, and check for water tightness across all internal joints.

Electric shower questions

Still have a question?

Can I swap an old electric shower for a more powerful model?

Yes, provided the electrical cable, pull-cord isolator switch, and consumer unit breaker can support the higher kilowatt rating. If a larger cable is needed to prevent overheating, we outline the required circuit upgrade before fitting the new unit.

Do you supply the electric shower or do I buy it?

You can supply your chosen electric shower, or we can provide a replacement unit suitable for your existing water inlet and electrical cable positions.

Is an electric shower replacement notifiable work?

A like for like replacement on an existing circuit is generally not notifiable under building regulations. If a new circuit must be run from the consumer unit, that work is notifiable and is registered through our NAPIT registration.

Will my consumer unit need changing for a new shower?

Not always. If your consumer unit already has a spare circuit breaker with RCD protection capable of handling the shower load, a new board is not required. We inspect the board during our initial checks.

What causes an electric shower to suddenly run cold?

A shower running cold often indicates a failed heating element, thermal cut-out trip, or an electrical supply fault at the isolator or consumer unit. We test the circuit to establish whether the unit needs replacing or if there is a wiring fault.
