Can I install battery storage without solar panels?
Yes. Many homes in Poole and Bournemouth install standalone battery storage to charge from the mains grid overnight on cheaper off peak tariffs, then discharge during high rate daytime periods. Mohsen Nazari.
Where can the battery unit be installed?
Batteries are usually fitted in a garage, utility room or loft space, provided there is adequate ventilation and structural support. Outdoor units can also be mounted on an external wall. Mohsen Nazari.
How long does the installation take?
Most domestic battery installations take between one and two days depending on cable runs and consumer unit location. Power to your home is only turned off for a short period during the final consumer unit connection.
Do I need permission from the electricity network before installing?
Systems up to 3.68kW per phase usually fall under standard G98 regulations where we notify the distribution network operator within 28 days of commissioning. Larger systems require advance G99 approval, which we handle for you.
Will a battery system keep my power on during a power cut?
Standard battery installations shut down during a grid power cut for safety reasons. If you want power during an outage, an emergency power supply or islanding switchgear must be specified and installed as part of the system.
